Our School
Tempe Montessori School was founded in 1978 by Irma Letson in Tempe, Arizona. Montessori schools are found in over 50 countries throughout the world, reflecting their universal appeal. Consequently, our curriculum reflects not only the universal developmental needs of children, but also the cultural diversity of humankind. In keeping with this international origin, the Tempe Montessori School boasts a student body that is approximately 30% of international origin or minority groups. Hours of operation are 7:30am - 6pm. Ages served are 18 mo. to 12 yrs.

The Tempe Montessori School is established for the sole purpose of providing the very best care and education of young children, and to help parents achieve their highest goals in the education of their children and in their family life. Our Faculty
Each Montessori classroom is staffed by two adults: AMI certified Montessori teachers and classroom assistants who most often have a college degree. Additional assistants prepare and supervise the outdoor environment, keeping the student/staff ratio of 6:1 to 13:1. These adults trust in the potential of each child to develop into a productive, caring adult and are eager to help each child discover his or her talents and capabilities. Accreditation
The Tempe Montessori School is licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services and recognized by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). AMI was founded in 1929 by Dr. Maria Montessori who intended that AMI serve two purposes: first, to protect her life’s work in its original integrity and completeness; and second, to guide its further development and application in the interests of all children. From its international headquarters in Amsterdam, Holland, AMI has functioned as the source of authentic, complete Montessori training and as a center for continuing research and development. TMS is one of ten Montessori schools in Arizona accredited by AMI.
