Established in 1978
Welcome to Tempe Montessori School — A Legacy of Whole-Child Education Since 1978
Tempe Montessori School was founded in 1978 by Mrs. Irma Letson to serve families seeking a nurturing, high-quality Montessori education that supports the development of the whole child — academically, socially, and emotionally. As one of the first Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) recognized schools in the Phoenix metro area, we have proudly provided authentic Montessori education for children from 3 months through 6th grade for over 40 years.
Tempe Montessori is a family-owned and operated school, now under the leadership of Mrs. Letson’s granddaughter, Lauren Bolar. A former Montessori student herself, Ms. Lauren brings both deep personal experience and professional expertise to her role as Director. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Arizona State University and AMI diplomas in Infant/Toddler, Primary, and Montessori Administration, along with specialized training in Elementary. Passionate about Montessori education and community involvement, she has been featured in local magazines and podcasts for her work in the field.
Our diverse team of highly trained AMI-certified Guides is committed to fostering an environment where each child is respected, supported, and empowered to grow at their own pace. Through continuous professional development, our staff ensures that each classroom is a place where children thrive both intellectually and emotionally.
As an AMI-recognized school, we stay true to the time-tested principles of Dr. Maria Montessori’s philosophy, which respects the individuality of each child and cultivates independence, responsibility, and a lifelong love of learning.
Tempe Montessori is a private, tuition-based school with a high star rating from Arizona’s Quality First. We are AZDHS certified and gladly accept DES, ESA, and STO funding to support families in accessing our programs.
At Tempe Montessori, your child joins a vibrant legacy — and begins building one of their own.
